The Cup of Wonder is a black bicast leather dice cup with a handsome golden foil stamp and an otherworldly fuchsia velvet interior. Each cup comes filled with five of our most premium, glittery and shimmery treatments: Dwarven Brandy, Arcane Aura, Diamond Dust, Stardust, and Royal Bubblegum. For those keeping score, that's a quick injection of 35 polyhedral dice in standard sets of seven: d4, d6, d8, d10, d00, d12, and d20. Excitingly, each cup also comes in a reusable mimic treasure chest box. Store minis, tokens, or more dice (we all have more dice), just watch your fingers! Not enough dice? Grab the Cup of Plenty for an additional five polyhedral dice sets in a classic brown leather dice cup.
Why You'll Love It:
Short answers: more dice, cool dice cup, and more dice, not necessarily in that order. Long answer? Five sets of dice will suit many adventuring parties, often with an extra set for the DM. Buying a Cup of Wonder, a screen, and some books is pretty much all you need to get a tabletop game started (friends sold separately). On top of that we've lovingly packed each Cup of Wonder into a spooky mimic treasure chest box for you to keep around for your own nefarious purposes. That's 35 dice, a nice foil-stamped dice cup, and a cool storage box. A pretty impressive little package, if we do say so ourselves.
I bought these dice as a quick way to get a few sets for my D&D campaign and just got the opportunity to use them after a 'Stay at Home' restriction for COVID19 got lifted.
Starting with the bad:
The dice as a whole are rather light in comparison to other dice sets I have handled.
My d6 for the blue set has a deformation along one of the edges so it is a bit off from being a perfect cube.
The velvet lining on the dice cup is a bit loose where the corners meet at the top so I had to be a little careful in handing it.
For the positives:
Prior to meeting with my group I gave every die around 30 rolls both in a shallow bit of water and in my dice box and noticed a respectable spread in the rolls so their weight distribution seems good.
Because there are full sets of dice in the set there are plenty to compensate the issue with the one d6.
Without the cup and box the pricing would still make for a good deal so I can overlook the minor adhesion problem in the cup with some super glue.
A solid buy for anyone looking to add a few sets to their collection quickly, but the pickier rollers may be a bit let down with the lighter heft and possible minor deformities.
The cup feels nice in my hands and feels fun to throw dice with. The mimic box is a fun little storage container as well.
Good looking cup and dice. No complaints. Only thing it needs is a lid
Mimic box is cute, cup is very well made and good to use, and the 5 dice sets are such a good value and all kinda sparkly too
